Before and after being elected as County Councillor, Alex supported residents, the local charity and local councillors to campaign to reverse a Tory decision not to fund a new nursery in East Barnwell in Cambridge.
She asked public questions at meetings, spoke with residents and stakeholders and promised that if elected she will campaign to get the nursery back to Barnwell.
Mayor Dr Nik Johnson visited Abbey to see the old community centre and the need for investment in our more deprived areas of the County.
With Labour in power in the new County Council administration, the decision was reversed. East Barnwell, one of the most deprived areas of Cambridgeshire, will now have a new community centre building, including a nursery and a library, with the County working in collaboration with the Labour City Council in Cambridge.
